Good Day Folks,
Below are the recent property crimes for our area command. We are adding a little reminder to folks. Most of our burglaries on vehicles that occurred over the past 24 hours had unlocked doors or windows were left rolled down. This is a reminder to ensure that your vehicle is fully secured! It only takes a few seconds to go back and check. We see criminals check car doors to see if they are unlocked. They will go through parking lots and check door handles and if they find one open, they have full access to anything you may have left for them. What we have also seen with these unsecured vehicles is that purses, wallets, backpacks, laptops, etc have been taken. They are being left right out in the open for all to see and take. We are asking that you all just take a few seconds and ensure that your vehicles are locked and windows are up. Technology is great, but sometimes, key fobs don’t always work or you may be too far away for the lock to engage. Just take a little extra time. It will save you in the long run.
Also, if you are going to go in to a business or pick up a child from daycare, go to the gym, or anything that will take you away from your vehicle, take your personal items with you, even if it is only for a short few minutes that you will be away from your vehicle. It doesn’t take much time for a criminal to have the opportunity presented to them and you lose your valuables. Remember, you are in control of your environment, not the criminal element!
