Good Afternoon All,
Below are the property crimes over the past 24 hours. Also, we wanted to remind everyone about some safety tips that we often see when the warm weather arrives. It has started to become warm here in Albuquerque and we see a lot of folks leaving themselves vulnerable or inviting criminal activity onto their property.
#1 – Do not leave your garage doors open – even if it is just a small amount. Garages can be pushed up easily and animals or criminals can gain entry without your knowledge. We know you want to vent the heat out, but this is just leaving a part of your home that is unseen or forgotten about vulnerable. Garages do not need to be vented.
#2 – Do not leave your house with your swamp cooler on and a window cracked for drafting. This invites potential for a burglary. The window can very easily be slid open and entry gained. When you leave your home, go around your home and check those windows and doors that you leave cracked open for your cooler and make sure they are shut and locked.
#3 – Do not leave your vehicles in your driveway with windows cracked open to vent. A window can be easily pushed down and entry can be gained to your vehicle inviting the criminal to take anything that may have been left inside or potential for it to be stolen. Again, ensure your windows are shut and your vehicle is completely clear of anything enticing that someone might want.
#4 – Do not leave your front door unlocked or your garage fully open if you are working in the backyard. While we understand this is a hindrance to your activity of working in the backyard, please do not leave your home open and inviting to whom ever might be in the area ready to take the opportunity to help themselves to your hard earned property.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us here at the NE Area Command.
