Daily Watch Notes 12162015

Property Crimes over the last 24 hours are as follows:

1 Auto Theft due to Warm Up – 8300 blk of Tierra Serena Pl.  – Folks, please do not leave your vehicle unattended while its running. Criminals will walk or drive up and down streets looking for vehicles that are warming up with no one around. Vehicles give off steam from the exhaust, and they look for that. You may think you are only going to be away from your vehicle for a matter of a few seconds or minutes, but it takes the same amount of time, if not less, for one of these criminals to spot your vehicle and take off with it.

2 Auto Thefts – 2400 blk of Louisiana, 5800 blk of Signal – Both vehicles were taken from businesses – Take extra precautions and secure your vehicle with items that deter criminals from wanting to take a vehicle. There are inexpensive devices that can help with making it harder to take a vehicle. After market kill switches; devices that lock your steering wheel and/or brake pedal, etc.

8 Auto Burglaries – 5800 blk of Harper, 6800 blk of Leander, 3500 blk of Wyoming, 1400 blk of Pennsylvania, 2400 blk of San Pedro, 4100 blk of Prospect, 4700 blk of Montgomery, 3500 blk of Hoyle.

Points of entry were listed as broken window and unlocked vehicles. Items taken were purses, registrations, insurance, checkbooks, cell phones, stereos and 2 FIREARMS that were loaded along with extra ammunition.

The items that were taken from these vehicles should have never been left inside the vehicle. Specifically the purse, checkbook, phone and firearms. The other items can be placed in other places inside the vehicle or also taken inside with you, even if just for a few minutes. It only takes a matter of minutes for a criminal to break in to a vehicle and take what they want, especially if it is left in plain sight. Please be diligent and make your vehicles look like the day you bought them, without anything in it.

1 Residential Burglary – 3700 blk of Carlisle

The point of entry was listed as a window that is sometimes left unlocked. Items were rifled through, but it does not appear that anything was taken. This is possibly due to being scared off by someone.

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact the NE Area Command substation. Thank you!
